We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager who thrives on building something from the ground up. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the business by securing new retail partnerships, opening doors with major supermarket chains and establishing our presence in a competitive FMCG market. Crucially, while the UK operation is a start-up, the products you will be representing are backed by a well-established, financially strong European brand with a proven track record. This provides a unique opportunity to combine the agility and ownership of a start-up role with the credibility and support of an experienced international business. In addition, the business has the capability to offer white label solutions, giving you a powerful commercial lever to unlock new opportunities with retailers looking to develop their own-brand ranges.
Key responsibilities:
- Play a key role in building the company’s retail footprint from scratch
- Help define and execute the go-to-market strategy
- Proactively identify, target, and win new retail accounts across the UK
- Lead all stages of the sales cycle: prospecting, pitching, negotiation, and closing
- Establish and nurture relationships with retail buyers and decision-makers
- Take ownership of revenue targets and deliver consistent growth
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing strategies, and retail trends
What we are looking for:
- Proven success in a Business Development or Sales role within FMCG (cosmetics, personal care, or antibacterial products)
- Previous experience in a start-up or high-growth environment is a strong advantage
- Excellent negotiation and closing skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to take ownership and initiative
- Resilient, self-motivated, and comfortable with ambiguity
This is a rare opportunity to lead and grow a business from the ground up. You’ll be working with an entrepreneurial owner, receive plenty of backing and pricing support from the company and will have the potential to build a team in the future.
