Our client is a rapidly expanding private equity-backed business, providing solutions to a diverse client base. They are seeking a Group Accountant to join their finance team. This is a rare chance to step into a newly created role and play a pivotal part in shaping the financial future of a high-growth organisation.
The Opportunity
Working hand-in-hand with the Group Financial Controller (GFC), you’ll help transform our Group Finance Function into a best-in-class operation as it grows through organic growth and acquisitions. Our local teams currently operate independently, but you’ll be the driving force behind integrating these entities, standardising processes, and rolling out a Group Finance policy manual. This is your chance to make an impact, where diplomacy and technical prowess will be needed to unite their finance operations as they grow.
Reporting to the Group FC, duties will include:
- Partner with the GFC to deliver audit-ready monthly management accounts and group consolidations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK GAAP (with a future eye on IFRS).
- Lead the charge in integrating existing and newly acquired companies and embedding a cohesive control framework.
- Support the group audit process, liaising with external auditors and preparing technically sound statutory accounts and accounting papers.
- Drive efficiencies through automation and system innovation, enhancing reporting timelines and building a high-performing finance function.
- Coach and inspire local finance teams, fostering a collaborative, can-do culture.
- Oversee treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting, and ensure regulatory compliance.
We’re seeking an ambitious professional with:
- Qualifications: ACA (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ post-qualified experience, ideally within a group function or perhaps direct from Audit.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, consolidations, and statutory accounting, paired with a proven track record in monthly financial reporting.
- Skills: Exceptional analytical ability, advanced Excel skills, and a knack for explaining complex concepts simply. You’re organised, proactive, and thrive under tight deadlines.
- Personal Qualities: High EQ, integrity, and a positive attitude. You’re a self-starter who motivates others, embraces ambiguity, and champions continuous improvement.
