ADI Global Distribution now have the opportunity for VAT Analyst to join our Indirect Tax team based from our International Head Office in Chadderton, Oldham. Reporting to the Head of Indirect Tax, you will be responsible for the day-to-day compliance of multiple businesses throughout Europe, liaising with external advisors and supporting in-house VAT reporting. In this role, you will gain exposure to various VAT issues and related matters in the UK and in the EU.

Job Duties

  • Prepare VAT Returns, EC Sales Lists, & other mandatory reports related to VAT.
  • Prepare monthly VAT return overviews for Country Controllers to assist with approvals.
  • Prepare data for submission of VAT payment requests; ensure deadlines for payment are met and highlight large month on month fluctuations in payments or refunds – this includes close working with Payment and Banking team.
  • Identify areas of incorrect VAT treatment as part of the VAT return process and communicate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams regarding correct booking of documents from VAT perspective.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of VAT Balance sheet accounts and posting of month end clearing journals. Work with country controllers on open items with a view to clearing issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist the business with Tax authority queries and audits.
  • Assist the business with ad hoc requests and internal audits.
  • Ensure that VAT issues or risks identified are flagged to the Head of VAT in a timely manner, and provide support to resolve.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure documentation.
  • Ad-hoc miscellaneous duties and requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in relevant accounting or VAT compliance.
  • Fluent English is essential and additional languages would be beneficial.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; organised, analytical and methodical with strong attention to detail.
