Based at: All Dyfed Powys Police Custody Suites; Newtown, Aberystwyth, Llanelli, Brecon, Haverfordwest, Cardigan.

The purpose of the role is to support young people aged 17 and under during a critical period: while they are under police investigation. The Response Worker (RMW) will be the first responder to a request from police support staff, attending custody suites to provide immediate, inquisitive, and central support. The RMW will engage with young people during their time in custody, offering emotional support and advice, and connecting them with long-term services.

The aim of the project is to use this moment of openness and reflection as an opportunity to redirect young people away from future criminal behaviour and towards healthier life choices. The service operates across all custody suites in Dyfed Powys 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

When an RMW is needed, the police will contact our team on call, who will then assign the task to one of the RMWs. The role is flexible, and availability is determined by the RMW who decides each month which time slots they wish to cover and which police station they are willing to attend.

If you believe you have these skills but are not 100% sure, please apply anyway and let us decide. We know that some groups may disqualify themselves from interesting opportunities by assuming that others will be more successful, but do not be that person. We want to hear from the broadest spectrum of the community.
