The Chemistry Analyst will be expected to assist in the operation of the Alpha Scientific Lab with particular focus on the Commercial Water Testing Services.
Responsibilities
- Process water samples and read results.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standard and in a timely manner.
- Receive samples from customers and process them promptly.
- Follow documented procedures for all laboratory work, ensuring accurate recording, proper sample handling, orderly paperwork, and correct LIMS updates, and maintain all necessary records and quality data.
- Adhere to the Laboratory Quality Manual and comply with UKAS accreditation standards.
- Maintain a clean and tidy laboratory environment and ensure all fittings and equipment are well-kept.
- Undertake any other tasks reasonably in line with business needs as designated by the Line Manager.
- Communicate effectively and be confident when dealing with customers.
- Work well in a team with an open, honest and approachable character.
- Exercise a methodical approach to work with accuracy and a high level of attention to detail.
- Organise and prioritise workload with flexibility to respond positively to changing demands.
- Maintain focus on tasks that can be repetitive.
Qualifications and Skills
- High degree of computer literacy, including the use of programmes such as Excel and Word.
- Good laboratory practice and ability to work to the highest standard.
- Attention to detail and understanding of business processes.
- Experience of working within a laboratory environment with competent bench skills (beneficial but not essential).
- Degree or equivalent in Chemistry (beneficial but not essential).
