The CMS Operations Engineering Director will be responsible for the management of our Manufacturing Engineering, Site Engineering and Engineering Projects teams at our facility located in Nuaire, Caerphilly, in addition to supporting Manufacturing Engineering and Quality at our other CMS manufacturing locations. This is a new role with the responsibility of bringing all aspects of Factory Engineering under one efficient team. The role will report into the CMS Head of Operations and will be a key member of the CMS Leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a Safety First approach to Engineering, ensuring safe working practices and environment for all Nuaire colleagues at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all Quality and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and execute the Engineering strategy across manufacturing and distribution centres within CMS to support business objectives.
  • Work with the Quality Managers to help design and implement a Quality Management System across CMS.
  • Support local GBS teams to accelerate factory standards towards world class standards and practices.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams, fostering a performance-driven and collaborative culture.
  • Drive engagement and accountability across the teams to ensure high levels of morale, productivity, and retention.
  • Identify and deliver improvement initiatives to optimise process efficiency, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Support new product introductions, operational readiness and change management in collaboration with engineering and technical teams.
  • Participation in and leading of Kaizen improvement activities.
  • Engineering budget ownership.
  • Assist the CMS Operations Leadership Team to develop strategic and operating plans to ensure that the company has the appropriate resources to support current forecasted business and projected growth.
  • Collaborate across the business to design, refine and implement the best practice engineering standards and processes, to drive an efficient and results orientated performance managed approach.
  • Identify areas of improvement, cost down opportunities and approaches to limit our risk across our supply base.
  • Ownership of the daily planning and review meeting ensuring full collaboration from all key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven Engineering senior leadership experience in manufacturing across multiple manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing significant capital expenditure programmes.
  • Strong Engineering experience including Quality, site, facilities, maintenance and manufacturing engineering.
  • A deep understanding of Manufacturing Engineering process and documentation including regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
  • Leadership, communication, and team development skills.
  • Well versed in the suite of continuous improvement tools and techniques such as GBS and Lean Six Sigma would be advantageous.
  • Ability to engage and manage key stakeholders, both internally and externally including customers and suppliers.
  • Commercially and financially astute with experience of managing budgets, as well as a clear understanding and working knowledge of key manufacturing performance drivers and how to impact them.

Desirable Skills:

  • BEng or MSc in appropriate Engineering field.
  • A wide experience from multiple manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience within construction, HVAC, or building products manufacturing.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH or similar health and safety qualifications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data-driven decision-making.
