Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Specification Sales Manager to join our team in the construction industry. This role is pivotal in building relationships with architects, engineers, designers, building control officers and other specifiers and approvers to drive the adoption of our products in new and refurb construction projects. You will be responsible for promoting and achieving specification of our products, driving specifications for key projects, ensuring that our solutions meet the needs of the construction professionals, and closing deals to hit the company targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specification Development & Support: Actively work with architects, engineers, and designers to promote and specify our products in their designs for new and ongoing projects. Provide technical expertise and product knowledge to specifiers, helping them incorporate the company's products into their construction plans. Prepare and present specifications, technical presentations e.g. CPDs, and product submittals to project teams, ensuring all technical details are addressed.
  • Sales and Business Development: Drive product specifications to generate sales in alignment with company goals and targets. Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities with key decision-makers in the construction industry. Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with architects, consultants, contractors, building control officers and other influencers within the construction space.
  • Customer Support & Product Training: Provide ongoing product support to specifiers and project stakeholders, including troubleshooting, training, and guidance on product selection and application. Collaborate with internal teams such as customer service and engineering to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Market Intelligence & Reporting: Monitor competitor products and industry trends to position the company’s products effectively in the market. Report on market developments, customer feedback, and sales progress to management.
  • Project Tracking, Follow-Up and Closing Deals: Keep track of project specifications and monitor the status of ongoing bids and tenders where our products are included. Follow up on submitted bids and ensure timely conversions into orders won.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in sales within the construction industry, preferably with experience in specification sales.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, specifications, building codes, and materials.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to client meetings, industry events, and construction sites.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of presentation materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with building materials or construction product sales is a plus.
  • Technical certifications or training in construction-related fields.
  • Understanding of building regulations, standards, and sustainability practices.
