Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring optimal use of resources to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Coordinate with procurement, supply chain, and other departments to ensure availability of materials and equipment.
- Monitor and adjust production plans in response to demand changes, inventory levels, and resource availability.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and manage the production team, including supervisors, operators, and maintenance staff, fostering a positive and high-performance work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and develop training programs to enhance team skills and efficiency.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement among team members.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all products meet quality standards by implementing and monitoring quality control procedures throughout the production process.
- Coordinate with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and drive corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations, including health, safety, and environmental policies.
Efficiency & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Conduct regular reviews of production processes, equipment, and workflows, recommending and implementing changes as needed.
- Lead lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency and productivity.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management
- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety policies, conducting regular safety audits, and addressing safety hazards.
- Provide training on safe work practices and emergency procedures, ensuring staff are equipped to maintain a safe production environment.
- Promote environmental sustainability by implementing practices to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency.
Budget & Cost Control
- Manage the production budget, including labor, materials, and maintenance costs, working to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Track expenses, analyse cost variances, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
- Collaborate with the Head of Operations to develop and monitor production cost targets, preparing reports on financial performance and operational efficiency.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Oversee maintenance schedules and repairs for production equipment to ensure minimal downtime and maximise operational efficiency.
- Work with the maintenance team to address equipment breakdowns quickly and effectively, minimising disruptions to production.
- Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements as necessary to maintain production standards and efficiency.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as output, quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Analyse production data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and best practices.
- Report production issues, resource needs, and potential risks to the Head of Operations, proposing solutions to meet operational goals.
