We are seeking a Senior Business Consultant with strong legal finance expertise to lead the functional delivery of Aderant implementations across our client base. This is a senior, client-facing role focused on driving successful outcomes for law firms. You will work closely with Finance stakeholders to shape solutions, guide best practice, and ensure implementations deliver real operational value. This role sits within our global Professional Services team, with a primary focus on EMEA clients.
Role Summary
You will take ownership of the finance workstream within larger implementations and lead end-to-end delivery on smaller engagements, working alongside a Project Manager. You will be expected to bring strong domain expertise in legal finance, combined with a proactive, delivery-focused mindset — someone who drives progress, resolves issues, and ensures clients move forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Leadership & Advisory
- Act as the primary functional lead for finance stakeholders, including Finance Managers, FDs, and CFOs
- Advise clients on best practice legal finance processes, confidently challenging inefficient or legacy ways of working
- Drive decisions and maintain momentum, particularly where clients are uncertain or slow to progress
- Build credibility quickly as a trusted advisor, not just a system implementer
- Implementation Delivery
- Own the functional delivery of finance workstreams on large programmes, and full delivery on smaller projects
- Lead workshops, requirements gathering, and solution design sessions
- Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications
- Guide system configuration, data validation, and reporting setup
- Support training and ensure readiness for go-live
- Data, Reporting & Troubleshooting
- Lead on financial reporting requirements and validation
- Use SQL to investigate data issues, validate outputs, and support troubleshooting
- Work closely with client and internal teams to resolve data and reporting challenges quickly and effectively
- Integration & Technical Collaboration
- Work with technical teams to support integrations and data flows between systems
- Engage confidently with client IT teams on APIs and data structures
- Perform initial triage of issues and drive resolution with the appropriate teams
- Delivery Mindset
- Take ownership of outcomes, not just assigned tasks
- Proactively identify risks, blockers, and gaps — and take action to resolve them
- Maintain pace and accountability across the workstream
- Produce clear, high-quality documentation across design and processes
- Team Contribution
- Share knowledge and contribute to delivery best practices
- Support and guide less experienced consultants on projects where required
- Continuously build domain and product expertise
Essential Skills & Experience
- Legal Finance Expertise (Critical)
- Strong hands-on experience of legal finance processes (e.g. billing, WIP, revenue, client accounting, financial reporting)
- Experience working within a law firm finance function or delivering systems into legal finance teams
- Confident engaging with senior finance stakeholders and understanding their priorities
- Implementation Experience
- Proven experience delivering finance-focused software implementations
- Experience owning workstreams or leading delivery within structured project environments
- Ability to operate independently and drive progress without close supervision
- Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong SQL skills for data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting
- Experience with financial reporting and BI concepts
- Understanding of system integrations and data flows
- Consulting & Behavioural Profile
- Strong communicator, able to engage effectively at all levels of an organisation
- Proactive and delivery-focused, with a clear bias towards action
- Comfortable challenging clients constructively to achieve better outcomes
- Able to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
Desirable
- Experience with legal business management software
- Exposure to cloud-based delivery models
- Familiarity with data integration or reporting tools
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions within EMEA
What Success Looks Like
- Finance workstreams are delivered on time, with strong client confidence
