A growing building services engineering consultancy in North Bristol is looking to bring in an experienced Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the next stage of the company’s development. This is not just another senior design role. The business is at an exciting point of growth and is looking for someone who can help bridge the gap between the director and the junior engineering team, taking ownership of projects while helping to shape the future of the mechanical department.
The consultancy currently has a team of around 13 engineers across mechanical and electrical disciplines and works on a range of commercial and industrial new-build and refurbishment projects across all RIBA stages. The Mechanical Director is heavily involved in both delivery and winning new work, and they are now looking for someone experienced who can take on greater responsibility for projects, mentoring junior engineers and supporting the continued growth of the team.
Depending on experience, the role could suit someone operating at Senior, Principal or Associate level, with the opportunity to grow into a department leadership role longer term.
The Role
- Leading mechanical building services design across all RIBA stages
- Delivering energy-efficient and sustainable engineering solutions
- Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
- Conducting site inspections, surveys and commissioning reviews
- Producing technical reports and design documentation
- Ensuring compliance with CDM and health & safety regulations
- Monitoring project budgets, timelines and quality standards
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers
About You
- Experience delivering mechanical building services design within UK consultancies
- Strong understanding of RIBA work stages
- Experience leading design on new-build and refurbishment projects
- The ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams
- A collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving approach
- Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
- Membership of CIBSE (or working towards chartership)
