Adept:us is recruiting a Chief Engineer for a Bristol-based client specialising in delivering technical excellence and high-value solutions to complex engineering challenges in the aerospace sector. Due to a strong reputation and proven delivery excellence, our client has secured several major projects, creating the need to expand their systems and safety team.

The Chief Engineer will provide technical leadership across multiple aerospace systems and equipment, leading systems engineering activities, mentoring engineers, and acting as the primary technical point of contact for clients. The role involves functional and architectural design using MBSE methods, detailed equipment-level design, technical approval of deliverables, and close collaboration with programme leadership to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery, while driving innovation and upholding the highest standards of technical excellence and integrity.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in aerospace equipment design
  • Strong knowledge of equipment manufacturing processes
  • Solid experience in requirements engineering
  • Experience in systems or product architecture definition and design
  • Knowledge of verification and validation methods
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering processes, including ARP 4754A and ARP 4761A
  • Extensive experience in system and/or equipment design within an aerospace engineering environment
  • Proven experience taking products or systems through the full lifecycle, from concept and PDR through CDR and entry into service
  • Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • First-class honours degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace fuel systems
  • Experience with systems safety processes
  • Detailed knowledge of pumps, valves, and actuation systems
  • Experience in verification and validation through simulation
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and CFD tools
  • Experience in verification and validation through testing, including DO-160 compliance
