As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll be at the heart of our major programmes, ensuring every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. What you'll be doing
- Commercial Support: Act as a technical expert, providing advanced commercial guidance to Project Managers and the quantity surveying team.
- Contract Management: Oversee an NEC suite of contracts, manage correspondence, and ensure all contractual administration aligns with project requirements.
- Financial Management: Validate payment applications, certify payments, and ensure all financial data is accurate and compliant.
- Risk Management: Lead the project risk management process, maintaining and developing the Risk Register with Project Managers.
- Tender Evaluation & Negotiation: Support tender evaluation and negotiations to secure the best commercial outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and efficiencies in quantity surveying practices, aligning with organisational goals.
- Dispute Resolution: Resolve complex disputes, providing expert guidance to ensure satisfactory outcomes.
- Leadership: Mentor and support c30 Quantity Surveyors, fostering professional growth and effective team performance.
Key requirements & experience
- Essential: Proven experience in the utilities, construction, infrastructure (or similar) industry, with a deep understanding of its unique challenges.
- Strong background in portfolio commercial management and complex contract management.
- Expertise in NEC3 and NEC4 contracts (especially options A, C & E), including NEC Two Stage Contract experience.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing remote teams.
- Ability to foster a culture of openness, trust, and collaboration.
- Commitment to driving innovation and efficiencies.
- Desirable: Category experience (pipeline (civils background) / Compressors (mechanical engineering background)) Tier 1 contractor experience as a Main Works Contractor.
