Our client are looking for an experienced Yard Operator to join a busy industrial operation in Sunderland. This is a hands-on role involving vehicle movements, forklift operations, loading and unloading activities, stock control, and maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks and site equipment safely.
- Load and unload tankers, drums, and IBCs.
- Manage vehicle movements and act as a banksman when required.
- Carry out daily equipment checks and report defects.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure all loading and transfer activities are completed safely and in line with procedures.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
- Support site safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Valid FLT licence and practical forklift experience.
- Experience in a chemical, manufacturing, waste, recycling, or industrial environment.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with hazardous materials, permit-to-work systems, or bulk liquid handling would be advantageous.
