Our client owns and operates a leading upper tier COMAH regulated site based in Essex. They are seeking a Mechanical Asset Engineer on a staff basis.
Duties:
- Conduct inspections, assessments, and analysis to ensure mechanical integrity of static and rotating equipment.
- Lead failure investigations and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of mechanical faults.
- Support and manage statutory inspection (e.g. PSSR, LOLER) and pressure system maintenance.
- Develop and optimize mechanical maintenance strategies in line with reliability-centred maintenance principles.
- Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with COMAH regulations and internal Process Safety Management systems.
- Review and approve mechanical designs and drawings to ensure compliance with standards and codes.
- Support reliability initiatives and plant performance KPIs.
- Carry out all activities safely with due regard to others working on the site.
- Comply with all rules, policies and procedures on the site, including prescribed limits within relevant permits and licences as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a high-hazard industry (chemical, oil and gas), preferably COMAH experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, piping, and rotating equipment.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations (PUWER, PSSR, DSEAR etc) and standards (API, ASME, BS/EN codes).
- Experience of pressure systems, pipe and vessel fabrication, non-destructive testing techniques, LOLER, PUWER.
- Experience of management of change.
