About the Role: We are looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Yard Operator to join a well-established chemical manufacturing business. This is a hands-on, active role that plays an essential part in ensuring smooth material movement, safe yard management, and support for production operations on site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and experience in yard or site operations, particularly within a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Yard Operations & Material Handling
- Safely load and unload raw materials and finished goods using appropriate equipment
- Handle movement of containers, drums, and IBCs across the site
- Support production and logistics teams with timely delivery of materials to designated areas
- Carry out visual checks and ensure correct labelling/storage of materials
- Follow all on-site HSE procedures and wear correct PPE at all times
- Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly
- Maintain a clean and organised yard area, free from obstructions
- Assist with inspections and ensure chemical storage complies with regulations
- Work closely with production, warehouse, and site management teams
- Assist with basic plant operations and other tasks when required
- Participate in toolbox talks and relevant training sessions
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for yard movements and checks
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or plant-based role, preferably in chemical or manufacturing sectors
- Valid FLT licence and confident operating a forklift in a busy industrial environment
- Understanding of chemical handling and health & safety practices
- A proactive team player with strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills and a flexible approach to tasks
- Experience with containers, tankers, or bulk liquid movements would be advantageous
