Senior Architect – Life Sciences

12-Month Contract | Hybrid Working | Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology Projects

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to join their growing Life Sciences team, supporting the design and delivery of complex pharmaceutical, biotechnology and laboratory projects across the UK and Europe.

The Role

You will be involved in:

  • Leading projects through all design stages, including Programming, Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detailed Design and Construction Administration
  • Developing architectural scopes of work and supporting project planning, budgets and resource allocation
  • Coordinating architectural deliverables with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Preparing and reviewing construction documentation and technical drawings
  • Liaising with clients, code officials, contractors and external consultants
  • Supporting cleanroom, laboratory and GMP facility design
  • Reviewing project progress and managing changes to scope where required
  • Mentoring junior architects and promoting design best practice
  • Producing and reviewing Autodesk Revit models and project documentation

Requirements

To be successful, you should have experience with:

  • Architectural design within Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical or Laboratory environments
  • Managing projects through all design and construction phases
  • Building regulations, construction standards and GMP facilities
  • Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
  • Client-facing project delivery and stakeholder management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years' experience delivering architectural projects within Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical or Laboratory xgikmsk environments
  • Strong understanding of building regulations and construction processes
  • Knowledge of GMP principles and regulated manufacturing environments
  • Excellent communication and project coordination skills

Desirable

  • AIA or NCARB accreditation (or equivalent)
  • Experience working on international Life Sciences projects
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical process equipment and cleanroom design
