You will be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of the facilities within the scope of the mechanical discipline. Assist with the completion of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Schedules and the development of forward plans to improve the reliability of critical assets. To assist the Mechanical Supervisor in the execution of his daily tasks and step up to provide absence cover for aspects of the Mechanical Supervisor’s role.

Duties:

  • Execute the mechanical maintenance tasks as required, including both planned and emergent work.
  • Tasks will include but are not limited to, installation of pipework and fittings, installation of screwed and bolted joints, installation and alignment rotating machinery (pumps, agitators etc.), condition based monitoring, pump and valve overhauls/repairs.
  • Identify any parts required, collating the relevant details and where appropriate, contacting the supplier for a quotation.
  • Experience of fitting glassware would be an advantage.
  • Assist in the development of Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Routines (PMR) and write appropriate routines so that others can carry out the task.
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis of failures both formally and more generally through discussion with others and the Maintenance Supervisor in order to improve the reliability of equipment.
  • Ensure the Mechanical section of the Workshop Tier Board is up to date, clearly identifying both planned and breakdown work, indicating the current status and who is working on the task.
  • Recommend and monitor workshop spares holding, ensuring any parts used are replenished.
  • Record all work in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (MMS) currently MP2.
  • Assist where required in the training of others on site in order to increase the skills and knowledge of the workforce in order to better execute their roles.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and without harm to others or the environment, in line with company policies.
  • Provide cover for the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor during absences and at other times as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Served a recognised apprenticeship scheme or equivalent training.
  • Experience and knowledge of rotating equipment (centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals etc.).
  • Experience and knowledge static equipment (flanges, pipework, valves, PVVs, RVs, flame arresters, etc.).
  • Knowledge of predictive techniques.
  • Experience in any regulated manufacturing environment.

Salary: £42,439.45 per annum

Overtime: You will from time to time be required to work overtime. This may include evenings, weekends and/or on bank holidays. Any overtime will be paid at the following rates times basic pay:

  • Weekdays and Saturday – x1.5
  • Sundays and Bank holidays – x2
  • Christmas Day – x3

Working hours: You are required to work a minimum of 39 hours per week. Your line manager will provide guidelines regarding your normal hours of work and break entitlements and all such arrangements will be managed by your line manager.

Location: Cumbria

Pension: 4% employee contribution & 6% employer contribution

Bonus: You are eligible to participate in the Incentive Plan bonus scheme subject to its rules as amended from time to time. The bonus opportunity is set by the Company and relative to the Company’s operating year. The bonus opportunity for this role is 4.5%

Holidays: 25 days annual leave + 8 Bank Holidays. The Company reserves the right to determine holidays to meet local requirements (Shut Downs) or to meet customer or business needs.
