Piping Engineer / Piping Lead – Major Industrial Expansion Project Location: Liverpool area We are currently recruiting for an experienced Piping Engineer / Piping Lead to join a major industrial expansion project based in the Liverpool area. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on piping professional who understands the full design-to-construction process and is comfortable working closely with contractors to ensure piping works progress safely, efficiently and without unnecessary delays. You will play a key role in taking information from the existing Plant 3D model, drawings and project documentation and ensuring that contractors have the accurate, timely information they need to execute the work. The Role The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of piping design and construction and will act as an important link between engineering, the project team and site contractors. Key responsibilities will include: * Reviewing and extracting relevant information from AutoCAD Plant 3D models and associated design documentation. * Using Plant 3D to interrogate the model and obtain the information required to support construction activities. * Providing technical support and clarification to contractors throughout the construction phase. * Driving the piping design process and ensuring that design information is sufficiently developed to support construction. * Working closely with contractors to identify and resolve issues before they impact progress. * Reviewing piping layouts, isometrics, specifications and other relevant engineering documentation. * Supporting construction planning and ensuring piping activities are coordinated effectively. * Understanding and managing piping test packs, QA/QC requirements and associated documentation. * Providing input into pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. * Supporting and coordinating pressure testing, witnessing and other relevant testing activities. * Liaising with engineering, construction, commissioning and QA/QC teams to ensure a smooth transition from design through to completion. * Monitoring progress and helping to remove technical or information-related obstacles affecting construction. * Ensuring that engineering and construction requirements are understood and communicated clearly across the project team. About You We are looking for an experienced piping professional who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, construction-focused approach. You will ideally have: * Significant experience in piping engineering/design within industrial projects. * Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D and the ability to efficiently extract and interpret information from a model. * A strong understanding of piping design principles and the overall design/construction process. * Experience working directly with construction contractors and site teams. * A good understanding of piping fabrication, installation, testing and completion. * Experience with test packs, QA/QC and pressure testing. * Knowledge of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. * Experience witnessing or managing piping testing and inspection activities. * The ability to identify issues early and drive them through to resolution. * Strong communication skills and the confidence to work across engineering, construction and commissioning teams. * A practical, proactive approach with a strong focus on keeping construction moving. This is a delivery-focused role, suited to someone who understands that good engineering is ultimately about providing construction teams with the right information at the right time and helping drive the project through to successful completion.
