We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to support our site in Alfreton on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing for internal and external audits, maintaining ISO certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.), and driving compliance with all relevant HSE regulations.

This is a hands-on role, ideally suited for a candidate with a strong background in chemical or high-hazard manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and support internal and external HSE audits, ensuring site readiness and documentation compliance.
  • Maintain and update ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 management systems.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and method statements.
  • Support and monitor waste management processes, including classification, handling, and disposal in line with legal requirements.
  • Provide HSE training and toolbox talks to operational teams.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring effective root cause analysis and follow-up.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all compliance documentation is up to date.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar HSE role, ideally within the chemical or process manufacturing industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO management systems, particularly ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) required; Diploma desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Experience in audit preparation, waste management, and risk assessments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
