Adepto Technical Recruitment is working with a leading international technology organisation to recruit a Solution Engineer to join its Defence Services team in Farnborough. This is an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical Defence technology, supporting customers across the UK and overseas.
The Role
You will join a small team of customer-focused technical specialists responsible for implementing, integrating, configuring, testing and supporting command-and-control software and C4I solutions. The role is hands-on and customer-facing, with exposure to software, infrastructure, networking, communications and systems integration. The successful candidate will work between the Farnborough office, home and customer sites, with approximately 50% of the role involving travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to Defence customers.
- Support customers during military exercises and operational activities.
- Install, configure and support software within customer C4I environments.
- Deploy software for testing, training and exercises.
- Configure and test integrations between C4I software and external systems.
- Support integration with coalition systems, sensors, effectors and communications systems.
- Design and implement technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot software, infrastructure and integration issues.
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support.
- Support technical training for customers and end users.
- Work closely with customers and internal technical teams.
- Coordinate technical activities and requirements.
- Support projects to ensure delivery within agreed scope and timescales.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of technical solutions.
Technical Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least two years' experience delivering software or technical solutions within customer environments. Experience in some of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Windows and Linux environments.
- Android-based operating systems.
- Active Directory.
- Database management systems.
- XMPP and chat technologies.
- Java, C#, JavaScript or similar technologies.
- Cloud and on-premises software deployment.
- Docker, Kubernetes and/or Rancher.
- Network management.
- Software fault-finding and debugging.
- IT infrastructure and systems administration.
- ITIL.
Defence Experience
Previous experience working within Defence or military environments would be highly advantageous. Experience with C4I, C2 systems, military command information systems, tactical communications, radio networks or military exercises would be particularly relevant. Experience working directly with Defence customers or within security-cleared environments would also be beneficial.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time.

- Ability to obtain UK SC security clearance.
- DV clearance would be advantageous.
Location and Travel
The role is based in Farnborough, Hampshire, with a hybrid working arrangement. The position involves regular travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional international travel, including visits to company headquarters in Denmark.
