Our leading top tier COMAH regulated client is seeking a mechanically biased Project Engineer to join their organisation on a permanent staff basis. This role sits within the site engineering team and supports the delivery of capital and improvement projects across the facility.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Operations, Maintenance, and contractors to help deliver engineering work safely, compliantly, and in line with site standards. The position is well suited to an engineer with industrial project experience looking to further develop their project delivery and site execution skills within a COMAH environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of multiple engineering projects, with a focus on site execution and the construction phase
  • Assist Project Managers with the coordination of engineering activities across mechanical, EC&I, civil, and structural disciplines
  • Support the preparation and review of scopes of work, technical specifications, and project documentation
  • Assist with contractor coordination, including technical queries, site supervision, and monitoring of progress
  • Ensure engineering activities are carried out safely and in compliance with site procedures, permits, and risk assessments
  • Support the monitoring of project costs, schedules, and quality, escalating issues as required
  • Assist in the development of capital cost estimates and funding requests
  • Provide engineering support for plant modifications, maintenance activities, and shutdown/turnaround work
  • Support programmes for emptying, cleaning, making safe, and demolition of redundant plant, equipment, and building
  • Maintain accurate project and engineering records to ensure traceability and compliance

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (mechanical preferred)
  • Experience in a chemical, petrochemical, COMAH, or similarly regulated industrial environment
  • Exposure to capital projects, plant modifications, or brownfield installation work
  • Working knowledge of construction and health & safety legislation
  • Experience working with contractors and site-based engineering teams
  • Experience operating within a Top Tier COMAH environment (desirable)
  • CDM awareness
  • IOSH Managing Safely and/or NEBOSH General Certificate desirable
  • Project Management qualification beneficial but not essential
