- About the Business
We are working with a specialist pharmaceutical ingredients and life sciences business supporting customers across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
The business provides technical solutions across pharmaceutical ingredients, APIs, drug delivery systems and custom synthesis.
Through its specialist custom synthesis platform, it works closely with customers to understand technical requirements, identify opportunities and develop tailored solutions using its technical, commercial and manufacturing capabilities.
The Role
This is a newly focused commercial opportunity where the initial priority will be new business development and market growth across Ireland.
You will be responsible for identifying, engaging and developing new pharmaceutical and biotech customers, building a strong pipeline of opportunities and establishing long-term commercial relationships.
The position will initially have a strong new-business focus, with the expectation that you will actively develop the Irish market, win new customers and create significant commercial opportunities.
As the customer base grows, the role is expected to evolve towards a greater account management and customer development focus.
This is an ideal opportunity for a technically minded sales professional who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and turning technical conversations into commercial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow the pharmaceutical and biotech customer base across Ireland.
- Identify and approach new strategic customers and decision makers.

- Develop long-term relationships and identify opportunities to expand existing accounts.
- Manage a portfolio of key customers as the business develops.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and actively manage sales opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with supplier and manufacturing partners.
- Regularly travel throughout Ireland to meet customers and develop new business.
- Achieve a KPI of approximately 114 customer meetings per year, averaging around 3 customer meetings per week through a combination of face-to-face and Teams meetings.
About You
We are looking for a technically strong commercial professional with experience selling into the pharmaceutical, biotech or wider life sciences market.
You will ideally have
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, ideally with a strong understanding of organic chemistry/organic synthesis.
- Previous B2B technical sales, business development or account management experience within Life Sciences.
- Experience selling into pharmaceutical or biotechnology organisations.
- Knowledge of APIs, pharmaceutical ingredients, drug delivery or custom synthesis would be highly advantageous.
- An understanding of the Irish pharmaceutical market and customer landscape would be a significant advantage.
- A proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Strong technical and commercial communication skills.
- The confidence to engage with technical and commercial stakeholders at customer organisations.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building and influencing skills.
- A proactive, driven and growth-focused approach.
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
What We're Looking For
This is not simply an account management position.
The immediate focus is on someone who can actively develop the Irish market, identify new customers, create opportunities and generate growth.
You'll need to be commercially driven, technically credible and confident approaching new customers, while being able to understand complex technical requirements and work with internal specialists to develop the right solution.
The successful individual will have significant autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the growth of the business across Ireland.
Location & Travel
The role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the UK or Ireland.
Regular travel throughout Ireland will be required for customer meetings, alongside virtual meetings via Teams.
If you are a technically qualified Chemistry professional with B2B sales experience and are looking for an opportunity to take ownership of new business growth across the pharmaceutical and biotech market, we would be keen to hear from you
