Adeptis Group is currently recruiting for a Software Development Delivery Manager on behalf of a retail organisation that is investing in digital transformation and automation. As the Head of Delivery, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of software development projects, automation initiatives, and digital transformation programs. You will define and implement a structured Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring best practices and continuous improvement across development teams. Leading a team of direct reports within a larger developer structure, you will manage project portfolios, align delivery with business objectives, and foster a high-performance culture. This role is management-focused rather than hands-on technical work, but a strong understanding of cloud technologies, Agile methodologies, and software development frameworks is essential.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES- Define and implement the SDLC framework, ensuring structured and efficient software delivery.
- Oversee multiple software development projects, automation efforts, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to drive an automation-first strategy and optimise development processes.
- Manage project portfolios, ensuring alignment with business priorities and resource optimisation.
- Act as a strategic leader, overseeing Agile projects with some Scrum Master responsibilities.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in technology, engineering, and operations to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project performance, mitigate risks, and ensure service level expectations are met.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and expansion of development teams.
- Proven experience leading software development project delivery at scale.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Leadership experience managing multiple development teams and IT programs.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and software development frameworks.
- Strategic mindset with a focus on efficiency, automation, and process optimisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, working across business and technical teams.
- Experience in retail or fast-moving industries is a plus.
- Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or project management methodologies are beneficial but not required.
