This global payment processing company is building the next generation of capabilities that powers their merchant-first ecosystem. You will be joining a company aiming to become a market leader, with a focus on empowered teams achieving great things together.
Why This Role?
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow and evolve within a DevOps Engineering function, working as an SME within the team. You will lead efforts in architecting, implementing, and optimising end-to-end CI/CD capabilities for expanding on-prem and multi-cloud operations. The role is set in a dynamic, agile environment with multiple teams, where culture fit and collaboration are as essential as technical capabilities.
What You Will Be Doing
- Owning the end-to-end engineering delivery platform, from developer commit to production artifact across both cloud and on-premise environments.
- Owning the artifact repository strategy, promotion gates, retention policies, vulnerability scanning integration, and multi-ecosystem support.
- Driving Terraform as the single source of truth for all infrastructure.
- Optimising established module standards, remote state management, and automated drift detection.
- Standardising on Docker and Docker Compose for local development parity and production workloads.
- Building and maintaining a standard, opinionated pipeline framework for the organisation's polyglot estate, primarily .NET and Java.
- Identifying systemic delivery problems across teams, building consensus on solutions, and delivering durable outcomes.
- Mentoring Senior Engineers, conducting technical design reviews, and raising the organisational floor of DevOps knowledge through documentation, workshops, and deliberate pairing.
What You Will Need To Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- 10 years of hands-on technical experience, with at least 5 years in a role where software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, testing, clean code, and code review were central.
- Production experience delivering to both cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud or GCP) and on-premise Windows and Linux infrastructure from a unified pipeline strategy.
- Experience with enterprise virtualisation platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V) in on-premise environments as part of a broader IaC strategy.
- Experience overseeing either a platform migration led end-to-end, a CI/CD system re-architected at scale, or a cultural change in delivery practice.
- Expertise in Github and Github Actions, including reusable workflow authoring, composite actions, environment protection rules, OIDC-based cloud authentication, and secrets management integration.
- Expertise in Terraform module authoring, remote state backends, provider version pinning, import workflows, and policy enforcement via Sentinel or OPA.
- Strong experience with Hashicorp Vault.
- Comfortable administering Linux and Windows in an automation-first context.
