Adept are recruiting on behalf of a well established heavy engineering manufacturer in Sheffield. This is proper machining work, large centrifugally spun castings supplying Aerospace and Power Generation sectors. Stainless alloys. Tight tolerances. High standards.

The RoleYou’ll be machining large cast components to drawing and tolerance using:
- Manual Lathes
- Vertical Borers
- Large scale machining equipment
Your responsibilities will include:
- Machining large stainless alloy castings to spec
- Working from engineering drawings and translating them accurately
- Meeting production timeframes
- Carrying out visual inspection of machined components
- Accurate use of measuring equipment
- Identifying and marking swarf drums correctly (alloy control)
- Working safely and in line with company H&S standards
- Operating independently but contributing to a team environment
This is skilled, heavy manual machining, not repetitive small-part work.
What They’re Looking ForIdeally time served (not essential if experience is strong)
- Minimum 3 years’ machining experience in manufacturing
- Strong drawing interpretation skills
- Confident working to tight tolerances
- Comfortable using micrometers, verniers and inspection tools
- Detail-focused and quality-driven
- Able to work under pressure to deadlines
- Flexible with overtime and shift work
- Good understanding of health & safety and quality standards
