Adept Resourcing are recruiting for our manufacturing client, assisting them in their recruitment for a Design Engineer.
The role: To provide accurate, detailed, and timely CAD models and manufacturing drawings/information, that considers the best manufacturing methods to enable products to be manufactured in an efficient and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- To take ownership of design projects ensuring drawings/information is peer reviewed, checked and released to deadlines set.
- Design, develop and prototype new products in accordance with company Product Development Process (PDP) requirements.
- Produce supporting documentation, manuals, and drawings.
- Participate in Project launch meetings with other members of staff and interpret the client's requirements.
- Liaise with manufacturing representatives to establish the required level of information for a project.
- Provide Technical support for customers.
- Collaborate with the Engineering and manufacturing Team to meet quality and cost initiatives.
- Ensure designs are within body builder guidelines and meet current legislation.
- Promote continuous improvement approach to design and process.
- Develop and Implement Standard Operating Procedures for Mechanical Design.
- Support and mentor junior members of the team.
- Appraise and check designs produced by others.
Personal Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership on large scale design projects.
- Ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of work.
- Adapt to changing business needs, conditions and work responsibilities.

- Initiate Contract Design Reviews taking ownership of the decision process.
- Develop design, giving due consideration to the estimated concept and best manufacturing methods.
- Produce, store and issue CAD Models drawings and supporting engineering information as per company procedures.
- Generate Bills of Materials and Cutting Lists.
- Generate CNC programmes as required.
- Maintain drawing control procedures.
- Ensure that products are designed in consideration of manual handling requirements.
- Conduct Product Risk Assessments as required.
- Build and maintain working relationships with colleagues.
- Strive to improve quality of service provided to both internal and external customers alike.
