The Role

We are seeking an experienced Melting & Engineered Products (EP) Department Manager to take full responsibility for managing remelt and engineered products operations within a complex manufacturing facility. This is a senior leadership role with accountability across safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost, and a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and operational excellence. The successful candidate will provide clear leadership, ensure high standards across the department, and drive performance in line with business and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all health, safety and environmental compliance within the Remelt & EP departments
  • Develop, coach, and motivate teams, including performance management, succession planning, and employee relations
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, internal standards, and customer audit requirements
  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and responsiveness to production schedules and material flow
  • Work closely with planning, production control, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams
  • Manage departmental budgets, consumables, and cost improvement initiatives
  • Champion continuous improvement activities including 5S, hazard reduction, and process improvement

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • ONC / HNC (or higher) in a relevant technical or engineering discipline
  • Proven management experience within a manufacturing, melting, or process‐driven environment
  • Strong understanding of melting processes and principles
  • Experience working within high-quality, safety‐critical operations
  • Strong commercial awareness including cost control, manpower planning, and capacity planning
  • Confident Microsoft Office user (intermediate to advanced)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and influence at all levels
