We are recruiting for an innovative, R&D focussed manufacturer, looking for a driven and ambitious Mechanical Fitter.

This high technology business are developing new mechanical and electrical technologies and are an export success story.

Core skills

* Excellent practical mechanical fitting skills (additional electrical skills beneficial)

* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and instructions

* Ability to operate manual machine tools preferred but not mandatory

* IT skills (MS Office - Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel as a minimum)

* Ability to work as part of a team

* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Qualifications/Experience

* BTEC Level 3 or equivalent

* Experience of prototyping

* Experience of small batch manufacturing/production environment

* Involvement in the manufacture of electrical or rotating machines is desirable

* Experience of lean manufacturing environment is desirable

* Experience of winding/impregnation/assembly of high strength magnets is desirable

Main Duties

* Machine builds; materials delivery to ready-for-test stage from engineering drawings

* Small-batch production - builds, fitting, and assembly

* Prototype builds

* Build readiness - supporting design for manufacture, build processes, quality and safety

* Control of build quality - inspection of dimensions and characteristics

* Development and recording of manufacturing knowledge to support continuous improvement

* Support of Stores function (control of incoming materials and production orders)

* General maintenance tasks for an efficient, safe and clean workshop environment

General information

* Working hours (35 hour week): 7.30am-4pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 11.30am Friday
