We are recruiting a number of maintenance Control Engineers for one of the UK's market leading Machining Technology businesses, onsite at a world-renowned high-tech manufacturer as they look to expand their Sheffield based operation.

The company supplies high value components to a range of companies across Aerospace, General Machining, Oil and Gas, Energy, Truck & Train and Heavy Industry.

This is a shift-based role which will mainly be focused on maintenance of a large furnace and instrumentation, working on some incredibly exciting new projects over the next few years in Sheffield and will be joining a talented and rapidly expanding team.

The role

  • Furnace control:
  • PLC programming control and automation principles, SCADA Systems etc.
  • Furnace instrumentation - controllers, recorders, valves, programmers, pressure switches, limit switches, Gas proving systems, input converters and three term control PID
  • Burner interlocks
  • Thermocouples
  • Documentation - electrical drawings and the ability to read/draw/diagnose and understand them
  • Furnace burner system principles
  • SCADA Networks
  • Data Logger
  • Electrical testing competent
  • Furnace fault finding and understanding of furnace systems
  • Thyristor Drives and their use in electrical furnaces
  • Advantageous having a Knowledge of induction hardening systems
  • Process Control:
    • PLC programming - Siemens (Tia Portal Wincc) Opto22, Eurotherm (Lin tools Wonderware)
    • Instrumentation - limit switches, encoders, pressure transducers, HMI's, level sensors
    • Basic Understanding of Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Electrical drawings - fault finding diagnosis
    • Control systems and fault finding
    • Networking
    • Electrical Testing
    • Competent in installation and commissioning of Motor Drives
  • General Maintenance:
    • Understanding and design of electrical drawings
    • Cable installation - conduit, tray work, glanding, termination
    • Assist team where required

    Required Education level:

    • NVQ 3 instrumentation and control
    • HNC electrical and electronic / mechatronic engineering
    • Apprentice trained
    • Multi-skilled
