Our client is a well known Sheffield based manufacturer and is one of the most successful steel and engineering businesses in the country, and a recipient of the Queens Award for Enterprise. The Group consists of 6 independently operational businesses covering multiple disciplines including forging, heat treatment, testing, machining, and global distribution of advanced nickel-based alloys & special steels.
The Role
We are recruiting a Group Health, Safety & Environmental Officer, based at our Group HQ reporting to the Group HS&E Manager. You will work closely with other H&S and Quality team members, and responsibilities will include the implementation of our H&S policies and associated risk assessments, safe working procedures and training for UK based employees, employee inductions and liaising with external contractors. You will also support the development and maintenance of our environmental policies and practices throughout the UK businesses, including our ISO 14001 accreditation. Note, this is a 'Group Wide' role allowing for a broad and varied working environment across all our UK companies within Sheffield.
Skills / qualifications
Preferably the candidate will be experienced within a steel / engineering or manufacturing environment, but this is not vital, and hold a NEBOSH certificate qualification, or similar. An environmental qualification would also be beneficial like IEMA Foundation Certificate or similar, but not vital. You might have been previously involved in H&S activities and be looking to direct your career in that field and become a qualified practitioner. Familiarity with auditing to ISO 45001, and 14001 standards and supporting Management in continuous improvement programmes would also be beneficial. As the Group is growing, this position has scope for promotion in the coming years.
Salary
Salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Other usual benefits apply, with on site parking, pension contributions, additional holiday entitlement for service and financial support for further academic study in an associated field to develop your career.
