Imagine this… It’s 7am. You pull into the car park, coffee in hand, knowing exactly how your day is going to run. No weekends. No last‑minute overtime. No chaos for the sake of it. Just a well‑run warehouse, a small team that looks to you for leadership, and the chance to genuinely shape how things are done. You walk into a 33,000 sq ft warehouse – organised, busy, and full of potential. Around 2,500 pallet spaces, raw ingredients moving in and out, orders to pick, pack and ship. It’s a hands‑on operation, and you’re right at the centre of it.
This is a brand‑new Warehouse Supervisor role, created because the business is growing. A multi‑million‑pound UK SME with ambitious plans, including warehouse expansion and the rollout of a bespoke WMS in the coming months. They want someone who doesn’t just keep things ticking over – but improves, refines, and takes pride in running a tight ship. You’ll lead a small team of two, one of whom is an apprentice. That means your experience, patience and ability to coach really matters here. You’ll be trusted to run the day‑to‑day.
Responsibilities
- Managing deliveries and collections
- Unloading tankers and pallets
- Moving stock, picking, packing and labelling
- Using hand scanners and barcode systems
- Maintaining stock accuracy and control
- Keeping the warehouse clean, safe and compliant
It’s a busy, self‑managed environment where attention to detail is critical. The products are raw ingredients and chemicals, so organisation, diligence and best practice aren’t optional – they’re essential. You’re not stuck behind a desk. This is a hands‑on supervisory role. You’ll still be on the FLT, still involved in the operation, still setting the standard. A Counterbalance FLT licence is essential (Reach is a bonus), and you’ll be comfortable working at heights of up to 8 metres. Manual handling is part of the role too – including occasional decanting from tanker to containers. What matters most is mindset.
Qualifications
You might already be a Warehouse Supervisor, or you might be a senior operative or team leader who’s ready to step up. Either way, you’ll have at least 5 years’ warehouse experience, ideally 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role, and a natural instinct for improving processes and then maintaining them properly once they’re in place. Knowledge of WMS, health & safety and quality standards will help you hit the ground running.
Benefits
- £30,000 – £32,000 salary
- Monday to Friday, 7am – 4pm
- No weekends. No overtime.
- Free onsite parking
- Healthcare & enhanced pension
- Team lunches, quizzes and social get‑togethers
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Christmas shutdown
- A genuine opportunity to grow with the business as it expands
This is the kind of role where your contribution is seen, where your ideas are listened to, where you can build something – not just manage it. If you’re organised, efficient, detail‑driven and ready to take ownership of a warehouse operation in Barnsley, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
