Our client is seeking a Junior Accounts Assistant to join their Accounts Department on a part-time basis, working four days per week (Tuesday to Friday). This role would suit someone with previous experience in an accounts, finance, bookkeeping, purchase ledger or sales ledger position who is looking to broaden their skills within a professional services environment. Previous legal accounts experience is not required, as full training will be provided on legal cashiering procedures and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and posting client account transactions.
- Assisting with CHAPS and BACS payments.
- Posting anticipated disbursements.
- Responding to general accounts enquiries.
- Assisting with office account postings.
- Supporting bank reconciliations when required.
- Banking and producing cheques when necessary.
- Assisting Accounts Managers with day-to-day accounting activities.
- Supporting credit control activities, including occasional calls to clients regarding outstanding invoices.
- Providing general administrative support to the Accounts Department.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance role.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
- Experience of account postings, ledger work, reconciliations or payment processing.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Good communication skills and professional telephone manner.
Desirable
- Experience working within a professional services environment.
- AAT qualification or studies towards an accounting qualification.
- Experience using finance or accounting software.
