The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join a growing business based in Warrington. Currently turning over approximately £18.4m, the business has ambitious plans to grow to around £40m by 2030, making this a great time to join the finance team and develop alongside the company. You'll join a finance team of four and work across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, taking responsibility for the invoicing relating to three of the company's branches. This is a varied role that would particularly suit someone in the earlier stages of their finance career who already has a good grounding in accounts and is now looking for greater exposure, responsibility and genuine career progression. The business is keen to invest in the successful candidate's development. Alongside AAT study support, there will be the opportunity to progress onto further professional qualifications such as CIMA or ACCA, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within finance.
The Role Responsibilities will include:
- Processing Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger invoices
- Managing invoicing across three branches
- Liaising with branch managers regarding completed jobs, client invoicing and job-related billing
- Assisting with credit control and resolving customer account queries
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Supporting reconciliations across the finance function
- Assisting with accruals and prepayments
- Supporting month-end processes and the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Assisting with the allocation and management of overhead costs
- Responding to finance queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Maintaining and updating finance systems and databases
- Supporting the wider finance team with general accounting and administrative duties
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced within an accounts or finance environment, ideally with exposure to both AP and AR
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Confident working with numbers
- Comfortable using Excel and finance systems
- A good communicator who is confident liaising with colleagues across the business
- Able to work independently while also being a strong team player
- Proactive, motivated and ambitious
- Keen to learn, develop and progress within finance
- Ideally studying towards an AAT qualification or looking to continue their professional studies
You don't need to know everything from day one. Attitude, confidence and a genuine desire to develop are equally important, and the business is looking for someone who wants to grow with the role and the wider company.
What's on Offer
- £30,000 basic salary
- AAT study support
- Further study support towards professional qualifications such as CIMA or ACCA
- Genuine opportunities for career progression as the business and finance function grow
- Hybrid working after probation - up to 2 days per week from home
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Christmas shutdown
- Onsite parking
- Company pension
- Ongoing professional development
- Opportunity to join an ambitious business during a significant period of growth
