This is a critical interim assignment for a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), who enjoys taking ownership of complex year-end delivery and being the go-to technical lead.
You will lead the delivery of the statutory accounts, managing the full year-end process, and act as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Important: This role is not about 'cover' - it’s about owning outcomes, bringing structure and delivering a high-quality statutory set of accounts to deadline. If you’re someone who takes pride in seeing an assignment through from start to finish, this is a role where your contribution will be highly visible and genuinely valued. Huge potential for it to lead towards a permanent position.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading the year-end process end-to-end, owning the timetable, milestones and delivery
- Producing statutory accounts for the group and subsidiaries, ensuring full compliance with FRS102 and SORP
- Acting as the key point of contact for external auditors, ensuring information is provided efficiently and queries are resolved smoothly
- Providing technical guidance and support to the finance team throughout the accounts process
- Identifying technical or logistical issues early and developing practical, workable solutions
- Keeping senior management informed on progress, risks, and key decisions
Governance, Risk & Value
- Ensuring full compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal financial policies
- Operating within the organisation's risk management framework to ensure issues are identified and controlled
- Applying a strong value-for-money mindset, supporting robust reporting, efficiency and best-practice processes
- Supporting procurement and contractual reporting where relevant to financial governance
What We’re Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Preferably, a technically trained accountant with proven experience leading year-end statutory accounts
- Strong technical financial reporting background (FRS102 & SORP accounting highly desirable)
- Comfortable stepping into a leadership role and taking ownership without heavy direction
- Professional, delivery-focused, and committed to completing the assignment in full
- Confident communicator, able to work effectively with auditors, finance teams and senior stakeholders
Why This Interim Role Stands Out
- Clear scope, ownership, and accountability - no ambiguity
- High-impact assignment at a pivotal reporting point
- Opportunity to lead, not just support
- Hybrid working with flexibility
- A role that rewards technical strength, professionalism, and follow-through
