About the Role
Adeia is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated IP professional to support its Media IP Licensing business as Director, IP Strategy and Licensing for Europe and Australia. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for the region, this role plays a critical part in supporting the development and execution of Adeia’s licensing initiatives, particularly in driving value from its European and Australian media patent assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Cross-functional Support: Assist in delivering IP licensing activities across Europe and Australia, contributing to IP strategy, patent assertion, and portfolio development in coordination with internal teams.
- Evidence Development: Support infringement analysis efforts by helping generate strong evidence packages under European/Australian legal frameworks.
- Litigation Support: Contribute to defense and assertion work, including involvement in EPO oppositions and litigation preparation.
- Portfolio Input: Assist in evaluating and shaping European/Australian IP assets to maximize licensing value; contribute to UPC strategies in partnership with senior leaders.
- Market Analysis: Research market trends and identify relevant licensing targets in video, broadband, OTT, and consumer electronics sectors.
- Negotiation Support: Collaborate with the licensing team to prepare materials and analysis for licensing negotiations and support execution of agreements.
- Team Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between legal, technical, and business teams to support licensing goals aligned with Adeia’s strategy.
- Operational Contribution: Help maintain the licensing pipeline and manage ongoing projects with attention to detail and commercial outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in patent law at a law firm or in-house, ideally involving media, tech, or telecommunications IP licensing. Familiarity with European IP enforcement practices required.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of IP in digital media, consumer electronics, OTT video, or ad-tech. Experience in gaming or e-commerce is a plus.
- Legal & Technical Acumen: Ability to understand and discuss complex technical IP matters and legal strategy.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to support negotiation and licensing processes.
- Education: Master’s degree in IP Law or related legal discipline; science or engineering background preferred. Solicitor/Barrister qualification or equivalent with an active practicing certificate.
