A busy cold store and logistics operation in Wrexham is seeking a highly experienced and agile Manager of Operations to take ownership of onsite performance. This role requires a committed, driven, and confident leader who can guide teams effectively and maintain high operational standards. Ideal for someone operating at Shift Manager level or above, with a strong understanding of warehouse flow and cold storage environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Manage and support Cold Store Operators across 4 shift patterns.
- Lead by example, demonstrating strong presence, accountability, and consistency.
- Act as the main operational lead in the absence of senior site management.
- Work flexibly across all areas of the operation, including hands-on bay work when required (Counterbalance/Reach Truck licences advantageous).
- Customer Experience
- Work closely with Customer Service and Administration teams.
- Provide flexible, solutions-focused support to customers.
- Handle issues and complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Attend customer meetings and performance reviews.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Represent the business with confidence when required.
- Quality, Safety & Culture
- Maintain and promote exceptional health & safety standards.
- Drive a "quality first" culture across all shifts.
- Support LEAN and continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, temperature control, and high-bay operational processes.
- Operational Expertise
- Strong logistics background; cold store experience highly beneficial.
- Understanding of blast freezing, crystallisation, and food safety standards.
- Familiarity with high-bay automation and production flows.
- Ability to balance hands-on operational involvement with strategic leadership.
- People Management
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of staff.
- Manage day-to-day people matters including performance, absence, and welfare.
- Encourage progression, strong cultural values, and operational discipline.
- Collaborate with other managers as a dependable senior figure.
- Systems & Reporting
- Competent with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
- Provide accurate reporting and operational updates to senior management.
- Contribute to wider projects and site improvement initiatives.
