You'll be supported by experienced professionals, learning how to source and manage indirect goods and services while developing key commercial and analytical skills.   • Location: Wolverhampton
  • Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour
  • Hours: 37 per week Monday to Friday - all onsite

Role Overview:

As a Trainee Indirect Buyer, you'll support the procurement team in managing the end-to-end purchasing process across areas such as Facilities Management (FM), Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), and Capital Expenditure (Capex). This role is designed to give you exposure to key procurement processes, systems, and supplier interactions, helping you build a strong understanding of how procurement operates within a regulated and high-performing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Support & Sourcing: Assist with sourcing activities in line with company policies and procedures, support RFQ (Request for Quotation) and RFP (Request for Proposal) processes, help gather supplier quotes and contribute to supplier evaluations.
  • Spend & Category Support: Support the management of indirect spend categories, assist with tracking costs and identifying potential savings opportunities, help monitor supplier performance and flag any risks.
  • Supplier Coordination: Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services, support the team in maintaining positive supplier relationships, assist in resolving basic supplier or delivery issues.
  • Operational Procurement Activities: Raise purchase orders and support Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes (training provided), help with invoice queries and ensure accurate documentation, maintain accurate data within procurement systems (e.g. SAP).
  • Compliance & Administration: Ensure all activities are carried out in line with company policies and standards, maintain clear and organised records for audit purposes, support the team in managing compliance and governance requirements.
  • Data & Reporting: Assist with basic spend analysis and reporting, support the team in tracking procurement performance metrics, use internal systems to gather and interpret data.

What You'll Bring:

  • A recent degree (or equivalent), ideally in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related subject.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop a career in procurement.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Confident communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Basic IT skills, particularly in Excel (SAP experience is a bonus, not required).
