Adecco are currently recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a well-established manufacturing organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who is looking to take ownership of supplier relationships, contracts, and category management within a fast-paced industrial environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the effective sourcing of goods and services, delivering commercial value, managing supplier performance, and supporting business objectives through strategic procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, assess, and onboard suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and value for money.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to achieve the best outcomes for the business.
  • Provide commercial support and procurement expertise to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from initial enquiry through to contract award and supplier management.
  • Take ownership of assigned contracts and procurement categories.
  • Lead commercial discussions, contract negotiations, reviews, and renewals.
  • Develop category strategies and identify the most appropriate suppliers to meet business requirements.
  • Conduct supplier due diligence, including capability assessments, compliance checks, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure procurement deadlines are met and avoid out-of-contract spend through effective planning and supplier engagement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to maximise performance and service delivery.
  • Resolve supplier issues promptly and escalate where necessary.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement meetings.
  • Provide constructive feedback and drive supplier development initiatives.
  • Identify supply chain risks and implement contingency plans, particularly for single-source suppliers.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with relevant certifications and accreditations.
  • Coordinate and complete annual supplier performance appraisals with key internal stakeholders.
  • Review contracts and supplier agreements to ensure legal and commercial compliance.
Essential
  • Proven experience in a Buyer or Procurement role.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier management and relationship building.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience.
  • Sound understanding of contractual terms, legal compliance, and procurement best practice.
