Wolverhampton City Council is currently recruiting for a General Assistant to support catering and café operations across a number of sites, including Aldersley Leisure Centre Cafe, West Park Tea Rooms, Bantock House, and Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

This is a varied and hands-on role where you will support the delivery of high-quality food service while ensuring an excellent customer experience in a busy environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Cook Supervisor with food preparation and service
  • Support buffet preparation, setup, and replenishment
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold food and beverages, including use of a barista coffee machine
  • Operate tills and process both card and cash payments accurately
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times
  • Serve food to customers in a professional and friendly manner
  • Clear tables promptly and maintain a clean, welcoming environment
  • Carry out cleaning duties, including washing up and maintaining kitchen and café equipment
  • Check deliveries, ensure accuracy, and store items safely
Additional Duties
  • Attend training as required to support operational needs (this may include occasional work outside normal hours)
  • Work in line with all Council policies, including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, and Financial Regulations
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the café and catering service
