Are you an experienced Import Customs Administrator looking for a new opportunity? Our client in the freight industry is seeking a talented individual like you to join their team as an Import Customs Administrator. This is a full-time permanent position, offering an annual salary of £28,.
As part of their team, you will report to a Customs Manager and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient importation of goods. Your responsibilities will include:
- Signing and completing customs documents on behalf of clients under a Power of Attorney.
- Extracting necessary data from client commercial invoices and packing lists to complete import declarations.
- Liaising with importers and internal colleagues to gather mandatory information for import entries.
- Entering details into specialised customs software, such as Destin8, Sequoia, and Descartes, to facilitate the entry of goods into the UK.
- Applying the correct licences based on the type of goods being imported.
- Calculating and processing taxes and duties for buyers of goods.
- Assisting with duty refunds, tariff reclassification, and appeals as needed.
- Keeping up-to-date with import customs regulations and informing customers of any changes.
- Processing import documentation, including T-documents, EUR1's, Certificates of Origin (CofO), PAOA, HRFNAO, and other cargo control documents.
- Liaising with authorities such as Port Health, Border Force, and HMRC officials for document checks and goods quarantine.
- Coordinating the release of goods from approved sites and/or port of arrival, working closely with internal colleagues on logistics.
To be successful in this role, you should have a clear understanding of import customs regulations and be proficient in using customs software. You must also be able to comfortably handle a high volume of entries per week (75+).
