To provide safe, timely and effective maintenance support to production equipment and site facilities, ensuring minimal downtime and overall site reliability. The role also supports continuous improvement initiatives and ensures full compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to machine breakdowns within the engineering workshop
- Carry out preventive and predictive maintenance, including TPM activities
- Maintain and repair workshop equipment
- Perform general site maintenance and repairs as required
- Conduct electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs
- Install and modify machinery and equipment
- Ensure all work complies with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and control system standards
- Support fabrication and welding tasks where required
Facilities & Site Support
- Carry out maintenance of site utilities and facilities
- Work with contractors and equipment suppliers as needed
- Support ongoing improvements to plant, equipment and processes
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits
- Ensure adherence to EHS, H&S and statutory requirements
Continuous Improvement
- Role model continuous improvement and best practices
- Contribute to Lean manufacturing initiatives
- Support EHS and quality-led improvements
Key Duties
- Troubleshoot and repair CNC machines (e.g. Mazak, Hardinge, DMG)
- Repair pneumatic, hydraulic and automated systems
- Maintain factory utilities (HVAC, lighting, extraction)
- Operate workshop equipment for fabricating/fixture support
- Conduct risk assessments and safety checks
- Document all work carried out accurately
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Recognised Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Proven experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills (electrical and mechanical)
- Knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations
- Experience with CNC equipment and control panels
- Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics
- Ability to read engineering drawings
Desirable:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Knowledge of TPM principles and CI practices
- Experience with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards
