User Researcher (Contract)

Role Description
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Researcher to join our client’s team in the banking industry. Our client is a large, innovative organisation with a team of over 40 researchers who play a pivotal role in shaping the development of their products and services.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented team, each with their own unique strengths and passions. Whether you specialise in accessibility, quantitative research, or user experience (UX), we value your expertise. You will be encouraged to test and experiment with new research methodologies, fostering a culture of collaboration and learning from your peers.
As a key member of their multi-disciplinary design, product, and engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and leading the research strategy for a crucial area of our client’s business. You will also have the support and guidance of our wider Design Research and Analytics community.
Your main responsibilities will include managing the research plan and roadmap for your assigned service or product area. You will deliver impactful research that solves customer problems, identifies new opportunities, and guides the creation of innovative solutions. Your role will involve conducting a variety of research activities across the product development lifecycle, including generative and evaluative research.
To succeed in this role, you must possess the following core skills:
- Experience working closely with design and product teams to identify and prioritise research questions
- Ability to create research roadmaps and plans to keep the team on track and align with strategic objectives
- Proficiency in qualitative research techniques such as usability testing, concept testing, and depth interviews
- Strong ability to synthesise research insights in a meaningful and actionable manner, generating a shared understanding of user needs and opportunities
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders throughout the organisation
- Experience in combining qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Ethnographic research experience, including contextual inquiry and diary studies
- Ability to triangulate research and data from various sources to create compelling customer stories
- Familiarity with accessibility research and/or working with vulnerable customers
- Willingness to share your expertise and learn from others
