Join Swindon Borough Council at a pivotal moment in our transformation journey. Swindon Borough Council is delivering a significant improvement and transformation programme. Following a C3 regulatory judgement, we took decisive action and are investing £250 million over the next five years to improve safety, compliance, stock condition and tenant experience. The Building Surveying function plays a central role in delivering these improvements through high-quality technical expertise and assurance.
As Senior Building Surveyor, you will act as a technical lead within the service, responsible for managing complex inspections, surveys and improvement works across the housing and corporate property portfolio.
Reporting to the Service Manager or Service Lead, you will carry out detailed condition surveys, diagnose complex defects and develop practical, cost-effective solutions. You will prepare technical specifications, oversee high value repair and improvement works, and manage contractor performance to ensure delivery meets agreed standards, budgets and programmes.
You will bring significant experience as a building surveyor, ideally within a local authority or social housing environment. Strong knowledge of building construction, defect diagnosis and contract management is essential.
A degree in Building Surveying (or related discipline) and professional membership (or eligibility) with organisations such as RICS or CIOB is desirable.
