Role Summary

As the Transport Manager, you will lead and manage daily UK and European road transport operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and exceptional service standards. You will be at the helm of a dedicated team while collaborating with various departments to drive operational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily UK road operations and European movements.
  • Maximise fleet utilisation and load optimisation for efficiency.
  • Proactively manage service disruptions with effective contingency plans.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK transport legislation.
  • Maintain operator license compliance and audit readiness.
  • Implement robust health & safety procedures.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the transport team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and development planning.
  • Negotiate with haulage subcontractors and transport suppliers.
  • Monitor transport budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support delivery of strong On-Time In-Full (OTIF) performance levels.
  • Implement process improvements across planning and fleet operations.
  • Leverage digital tools to enhance visibility and reporting.

Person Specification

  • 3 to 5 years experience in UK transport management.
  • Strong knowledge of UK road transport regulations.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • International road freight experience.
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
