We are currently offering an excellent opportunity for a Skilled Centreless Grinder to join a busy and growing engineering environment. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is ideal for an experienced individual with a strong background in precision engineering.
You will be responsible for setting and running a range of centreless grinding machines, maintaining high quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and increasing productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Set and operate centreless grinders (experience with Wickman Scrivener, Ghiringhelli, Cincinnati or Tschadun machines is essential)
- Operate Myford grinders (desirable)
- Support 2nd operation processes including:
- Thread rolling (desirable)
- Part marking
- Drill banks
- Depitching presses
- Torque testing
- Deburring (manual and rotary)
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections for 1st and 2nd operations
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures and correct use of PPE
- Reduce scrap and rework through continuous improvement feedback
- Maintain machine efficiency to meet KPIs, including On Time Delivery and Parts Per Hour (PPH)
- Manufacture high-quality components to strict standards
- Complete maintenance check sheets and cycle time records
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
- Previous experience in a precision engineering environment
- Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards
- Proven ability to set and run manual centreless grinders
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Skilled in using micrometres and working to tight tolerances
- High attention to detail and strong numeracy skills
- Team player with good communication skills
- Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience)
- Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:45 - 16:30 (37-hour week)
