Our client is a well-established UK manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced, component-driven environment. They provide end-to-end manufacturing solutions and work with a diverse customer base across multiple industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant to support their Commercial and Purchasing teams at their Essex site.
Responsibilities
- Raise purchase orders for components and materials in line with business requirements
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability and delivery information
- Expedite open orders and chase overdue deliveries to maintain production flow
- Support supplier delivery rescheduling, cancellations and push-outs
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within MRP / ERP systems
- Assist with cost data and pricing information for new projects and quotations
- Ensure purchasing documentation and records are accurate and up to date
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing function
- Provide general support to the wider Commercial team as required
Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally electronics or component-based
- Previous experience in a purchasing, buying or supply chain support role
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Good numeracy skills and confidence using Excel and databases
- Clear, professional communication skills for dealing with suppliers and internal teams
- Experience using MRP / ERP or stock management systems is advantageous
