We are looking for a Chef to join our team at Southampton University Hospital. The post holder will prepare, produce, present, and serve the menu items required for service users ensuring a clean and safe working environment, adhering to Health and Safety working practices and food hygiene regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in planning of menus seeking input from the team.
- Preparation of daily menu items for patients, staff, and general public/visitors.
- Production, presentation, and service of function menus as required.
- The cleaning and sanitising of own work areas.
- The daily organisation of chill and freezer storage ensuring cleanliness in these areas.
- The correct and careful use of all equipment used in daily food production.
- Ensure the department's hygiene standards are maintained in all food preparation, production and holding areas.
- To comply with food hygiene regulations and HACCP policy and the safe keeping of food samples daily.
- Adopt a responsibility for and have awareness of food production and presentation at all times.
- Monitor and record temperatures of chills, freezers and food in production and holding as per departmental procedures.
- Suggest and introduce new lines as appropriate.
- Preparation, production and presentation of therapeutic and special diets for patients where required.
- Always ensure correct and economical use of material and the following of standardised recipes.
- Receive delivery of goods when required.
- Report faulty equipment where applicable.
- Supervise service production.
- Monitoring of stock ensuring correct usage and monitoring of wastage.
- Participate and organise theme days.
- Undertake other ad hoc duties as prescribed by manager and within scope of skill and capability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience required.
Salary: £11.44 per hour
