Slough | Onsite at Client Manufacturing Facility
Salary: £28,500 + Bonus
About the Role
Are you someone who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, enjoys solving workforce challenges, and can think tactically to keep a large operation running smoothly? We are seeking an onsite Contract Consultant to support a busy manufacturing and production facility in Slough. Working from a shared office within our client's site, you will become an integral part of the operation, managing the day-to-day workforce planning and people management activities for a pool of approximately 170 temporary associates across key production departments.
This is not a traditional recruitment role. Whilst occasional recruitment activity forms part of the position, the primary focus is workforce planning, employee relations, attendance management, workforce deployment, operational support, and ensuring the site has the right people in the right place at the right time. This is a highly visible, hands-on role that requires you to build strong relationships with both associates and operational managers whilst making real-time decisions that support production demands.
What You'll Be Doing
- Workforce Planning & Operational Management
- Manage the daily deployment of temporary associates across key manufacturing and production departments.
- Create and maintain workforce plans to ensure labour requirements are met in line with production demand.
- Make tactical decisions on worker allocation, identifying opportunities to move associates between departments based on skills, experience and operational priorities.
- Work closely with client management teams to understand changing labour requirements and respond quickly to operational challenges.
- Utilise workforce management systems including planning tools, geofencing technology, and clocking in/out platforms.
- Maintain accurate workforce data, system records, and skills matrices.
- Employee Relations & Associate Management
- Act as the first point of contact for all associate queries and support needs.
- Conduct employee relations conversations, welfare meetings and absence management discussions.
- Manage attendance, punctuality and performance-related matters.
- Hold regular onsite associate surgeries and engagement sessions.
- Build positive working relationships across the workforce, supporting engagement and retention.
- Manage holiday requests and ensure appropriate workforce coverage is maintained.
- Payroll & Administration
- Process weekly payroll and resolve potential pay-related queries.
- Manage daily attendance records and reporting.
- Handle shared mailbox enquiries and provide timely responses.
- Ensure data accuracy across all workforce management systems.
- Produce workforce reports and operational updates as required.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who enjoys being at the centre of a busy operation and can calmly manage multiple priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in workforce management, HR administration, employee relations, operations support or a similar role.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Confidence managing employee relations and absence management conversations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong administration and data management capabilities.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Strong excel skills as this role relies heavily on the use of multiple live Excel-based operational tracking tools.
We'd Particularly Like To Hear From People Who:
- Enjoy solving workforce planning challenges.
- Can think creatively when balancing resources and production requirements.
- Are confident working directly with operational stakeholders.
- Thrive in a visible, onsite role where no two days are the same.
- Have experience working within manufacturing, production, logistics, warehousing or large-volume workforce environments.
Desirable
- Previous recruitment experience.
- Experience using workforce planning systems, time and attendance platforms or scheduling tools.
Why Join Us?
- Fully onsite role within a major manufacturing operation.
- Opportunity to play a key role in keeping a large workforce running efficiently.
