We are seeking a Security Administration Officer to support the daily operations of a secure UK public sector facility. This role is fully onsite in Reading and is ideal for a confident, proactive administrator with strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a highly secure environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in personnel security administration while also supporting the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the facility. All work must be completed in line with UK Government security policies, processes, and standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer day‑to‑day physical security and access control for a secure facility
- Act as the primary security point of contact for staff, users, and visitors
- Verify appropriate and compliant use of the secure environment
- Escort contractors during maintenance and other approved activities
- Process BPSS and Security Check (SC) vetting applications
- Support the Personnel Security Controller with general vetting administration
- Manage and action requests received via shared security and vetting mailboxes
- Provide security administration cover when Security Controllers are engaged elsewhere
- Support classified meetings and secure engagements within the facility
- Assist with security audits, inspections, and reviews as required
- Carry out reactive security‑related administrative tasks to support wider operations
- Proven experience in an administrative role within an office or business environment
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Confident working independently in a secure or controlled environment
- Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly self‑motivated and proactive, able to manage ambiguity and competing priorities
- Trusted to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- Experience working with government, defence, or public sector organisations
- Familiarity with UK security or vetting processes (e.g. BPSS, SC, National Vetting systems)
- CRM or general office systems experience
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and strong ethical judgement
- Flexible, punctual, and reliable with a positive, team‑focused approach
- Comfortable working in a small onsite team and supporting ad‑hoc requests
- Delivers a high‑quality service to both internal and external stakeholders
- Must have lived in the UK for the past 5 years
- Must be eligible for and able to obtain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
- Must be able to hold Security Check (SC) clearance
- Fully onsite role in Reading (local candidates strongly preferred)
- Sponsor open to candidates with varying levels of experience
- Equipment provided (laptop supplied; mobile phone not provided)
- Immediate start required
