About the Role:
Our client, a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing company is seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of their business. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious sales professional who thrives on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and delivering profitable growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the organisation's market presence, developing a strong sales pipeline, and converting opportunities into long-term customer partnerships. The role will involve regular UK and international travel to engage with customers, attend industry events, and support business development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to support company growth objectives.
- Identify, target, and secure new customers and business opportunities across existing and emerging markets.
- Expand the company's presence within key industry sectors and geographic regions.
- Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are progressed effectively through the sales cycle.
- Lead customer acquisition activities from initial contact through to contract award.
- Generate high-quality leads through networking, market research, industry events, and proactive prospecting.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, agents, and key industry stakeholders.
- Deliver professional sales presentations, proposals, and commercial offers.
- Collaborate closely with technical, engineering, and operational teams to develop customer-focused solutions.
- Negotiate commercial agreements, ensuring optimal margin generation and long-term value creation.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting through CRM and business systems.

Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, or similar commercial role.
- Strong track record of winning new business and developing new customer accounts.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and building sustainable sales pipelines.
- Demonstrable success in lead generation, customer acquisition, and revenue growth.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify profitable business opportunities.
- Confident presenter with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and internationally.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or technical product sectors.
- Experience selling into global markets and managing international customers.
- Knowledge of CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools.
- Understanding of commercial contracts, pricing strategies, and margin management.
